As an avid runner & infrequent red meat eater, I walked around for years with low energy, sometimes to the point where it was hard to take a step. I'm a blood donor and I had tried almost every other Rx and over the counter iron supplement I have heard of to maintain my iron levels. This is the only supplement that keeps my hematocrit at the mandatory "healthy high" all month. Listed for women but the additional vitamins (B12, Folate and C) in it iron are necessary for everyone's absorption, and are often the cause of iron deficiency but they are harder to detect. This kills all iron-metabolism related birds with one stone. It's super easy on the stomach because it is digested in intestines, not the stomach! Well worth the price because it also uses Ferrous Fumarate, which is much easier to absorb than the cheaper GNC alternatives. If you need iron, for any reason, this is the best option out there - man or woman.

When I ran out of store brand Slow FE, I switched to this, as my doctor recommended that I get an iron supplement with Folic Acid. After getting the third degree from the store clerk (I know too much iron is bad for you, but sheesh), I was able to check this out. So far, I have to say that this has been easier on my digestive system than the iron alone (this has vitamin c and b12, copper and folic acid as well) and also doesn't smell like raw meat, which I appreciate. The store brand Slow FE I was on smelled like a raw steak that someone had left out all day. Right after taking it, that's what my breath smelled like, too. Not pretty. This doesn't have as much iron as the Slow FE style supplements (30mg as compared to 50mg in those), but I am finding that the combination of components is more helpful to my iron problems than just iron alone. Probably not the best thing for severe anemics, but if it's slight like mine, it may be a great boost.
