Tampons are associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).  TSS is a rare but serious disease that may cause death.  Read and save the leaflet inside the package.  Use for 8 hours maximum.  The risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) increases with higher absorbency.  In order to reduce your risk of TSS, you should use the lowest absorbency that meets your needs.

I've been using Tampax with the biodegradable applicator since I was a teenager, and I've never had a problem. Having taken a job where I travel quite a bit (e.g. 12 hour flights to Europe), I found this absorbency level amazingly helpful. It's also great for night protection.

I'll admit that it's not as flashy as some of the other brands, and it is a bit less-than-comfortable to insert (though totally unnoticeable once in), but you can't beat the price, protection and the fact that it's Earth-friendly.

Ever since they redesigned these tampons I have been miserable. Tampax pearl has the better tampon BUT it has the annoying and plastic environmentally unfriendly applicator. I have to wear a pantyliner all throughout my cycle which is annoying. The wick constantly leaves you with residue from your flow on your unmentionables. I am so unhappy with this product. It is almost like they are making them this way on purpose so you will have to buy more products to spend more more money to get your needs met. I have been looking for a better alternative but have not found a suitable replacement. Tampax has really sold out.

Comments about Tampax Tampons with Cardboard Applicator, Super Plus, 40 ea, 1 pack:

I'm not sure about the reviews mentioning the tampax redesign. BUT, I do think these tampons are as easy to use as other brands, offer great protection, and as an added bonus have an environmentally friendly cardboard applicator! I haven't had any problems with leakage, and the absorbency level is great for long days. Yes, the applicator is a bit more rough than plastic, but it's not what I would consider too uncomfortable.

Until I read all the one-star reviews, I thought it was just me. I am disappointed with the redesign of Tampax tampons which easily leak, and therefore cause stains. A menstrual cup is a better alternative.

Comments about Tampax Tampons with Cardboard Applicator, Super Plus, 40 ea, 1 pack:

I used tampons for the first time since spring 2001 at age 24. The first tampon i used was tampax cardboard regular applicator tampons it took several tries but it worked.I remember one day on one of my heaviest days of my menstrual cycle,i inserted a tampon in the bathroom at work,i got the applicator inside my body but the applicator fell apart and both my hand were bloody A BIG MESS!!!nevertheless i got the tampon inside me.Through out the years of using tampax,i noticed that there were alot of leakage although i wore a pantiliner underneath so i swithched to super absorbency then superplus absorbency for my heavy flows until it got lighter then i'll go back to the regular absorbency. When tampax pearl tampons were invented in 2002, i decided to give them a try and really like them better, tampax pearl tampons are plastic applicators a sky blue rounded plastic applicator that is very easy to insert no accidential applicator seperations whatsoever and comfortable to wear if you find the right absorbency for you it can be warn up to 8 hours,i wear mine for 12 hours or more which is not good due to the TSS disease. Tampax pearls are like playtex tampons they both have plastic applicators are easy to insert and comfortable to use.My mother use to use playtex tampons and recommended them to me once i told her that i started wearing tampons so i gave them a try and they are real good i would use playtex over tampax cardboard tampons,my mom hated cardboard applicator tampons and i don't blame her not one bit tampax cardboard applicator tampons can be hard to put in.After 13 years of using tampons,i was on my menstrual cycle two weeks ago August 24th on one of my heaviset days i used a tampax cardboard applicator superplus tampon and had difficulty putting it in.Several weeks before my menstrual cycle came i brought a box of tampax cardboard applicator super plus tampons 40ct at walmart for the sake of the price being cheaper than tampax pearl. Inserting that tampon was difficult i got the applicator inside me but the tampon was stuck and the applicator seperated so after putting the applicator together,i tried inserting the tampon inside me but the applicator seperated again and this time the bottom part fell in the toilet so i gave up and use a tampax pearl plastic applicator superplus tampon instead and got it inside me with no hassle.Later that day, i went to walmart to replace all the tampax cardboard applicator tampons with plastic applicator tampons i didn't have the receipts anymore but the store clerk allowed me to exchanged them.I got tampax pearl super tampons 36ct,playtex sport superplus 36ct equate(walmart brand)super tampons 18ct and stayfree super long maxi pads 28ct the difference i paid was $1.80.The next day,i still had a box of tampax cardboard supers that were open and some of the tampons were used,i tried inserting one of the tampons and ran into the same problem so instead of wasting them by throwing them in the trash,i donated the box of tampons to the laundry mat in my apartment complex for a young woman to use.I don't know what happen to tampax,i don't know why i couldn't put that tampon in maybe because my flow wasn't heavy enough or maybe it was a different design who knows.I'm going to stick with tampax pearls those are the tampons i adore and normally i use the superplus absorbency because of my heavy flows until my flow tappers to a lighter flow then i use a super absorbency one, tampax pearl tampons are my best friend and if tampax pearls are not available in the store then i'll use playtex tampons NO MORE cardboard applicator tampons for me.I'm not the only one who is writing a review there are other women like myself who are doing it,out of 78 reviews i read some complaints about tampax how different the design is,how difficult it is to insert, how they are uncomfortable to wear and some women said that they even have poor protection. If anyone ask me what tampon to use.i'll tell them tampax pearl because they are my favorite. Ok, I don't understand the negative comments either. I have used Tampax Cardboard(which is the best) Tampons for over 20 years. If you are a heavy bleeder, then you need the Super or the Super Plus. No the regular will not work for you. They did for me when I was a teenager, but now that I am older, I have switched to the Super and Super Plus for the first days. Do not get the plastic applicator ones, because those will pinch your insides, and darn that hurts. Stick with the cardboard applicators always. Great Product!

Comments about Tampax Tampons with Cardboard Applicator, Super Plus, 40 ea, 1 pack:

I used to use these faithfully.

It used to be the only tampon that i could use for heavy flow.

Then the redesign- suddenly like other reviewers state there was leakage on a regular basis.

I scrambled to find a replacement that was like the "old" ones. The only thing that comes close to the old protection is super plus kotex.

Unfortunately They were out of kotex when I needed it. I figured I would try the tampax again, maybe give it another chance.

OMG, This tampon is horrible. Like others say, the wick on the end seems to draw fluid down to your underwear.

There is no reason for this, hasn't the company asked their customers how they like this?

Well, I will never purchase this brand again of anything.

If you have true heavy flow, stay away from this product, it will save you a headache.

                I am not over exaggerating.

The people that say this is a good tampon, probably don't really know what a heavy flow is.
